Summary: Dean thought he was doing the right thing when he let Sam walk away from hunting.....away from him. Sam thought the separation was nothing more than he deserved. They both thought Castiel had found a way to keep Lucifer from finding them. Neither one of them knew how wrong they really were.

I can't belive this has finally been finished! I sacrificed precious hours of sleep yesterday to keep reading this, and it was well worth it, and the wait. it was everyhting I had hoped it would be and more.
Damn disturbing at times (Lucifer destroying Sam's eyes made me feel sick) and sometimes I really wanted to kick Dean. (But then, I regularly wanted to kick Dean during season 5, so it's perfectly in-character.) They are so fucked up, but I'm happy they pulled through in the end.

I wonder now if things will continue to roughly follow canon, which would mean that Sam will eventually willingly hand himself over to Lucifer and an eternity in the cage. That breaks my heart - even thought it would alos mean that Sam is more awesome than anyone, ever.

Aw, thank you so much!!! I'm so with you on Season 5 Dean, but at least I found my love and devotion for him again in Season 6. I remember yelling at the tv when Dean told Sam they should split up - "Do you realize how vulnerable Sam is right now? Do you? Do you realize what could happen too him without you around?" So, yeah, this story was kind of my answer to that question, lol.

And yeah, I totally think this goes back to following cannon. ::Cuddles Sam very, very close:: Of course, that would make for a far angstier season six... shit. I hadn't really gone there. I do not need another bunny... I do not need another bunny...

I can't believe you finished it ten days ago and I didn't know until now! How is that possible??? I've been waiting for so long that it seems like a dream! I'm downloading it right now for my ebook. I know this is going to be long, angsty, epic ride!

Oh, and you should seriously consider to post this in the ohsam community. I don't think Sam can get more hurt than this, so everybody at that community will love it for sure!

Oh, my God. I think I died reading this. It was very good. It was hard to read, seeing poor Sammy like that, but I can't say I didn't like it. I'm not a big fan of the cliffhanger epilogue, but the open-ended nature of the fic does have a good purpose, I think. I like that we, as readers, can imagine what happens later on.

I love your portrayal of the brothers; it was so spot-on! Congrats on writing such an epic!
