Summary: Realizing that he's been played, Sam manages to make a last ditch attempt to stop the apocalypse. Relieved and proud and fighting to heal the damage of the past months, Dean gets them out of the church and on the road. Hurt and reeling, they try to find their way back to each other, but are secrets and the remnants of miscommunication and betrayal really all they have to contend with?

AN: Starts immediately at the end of Season Four (Lucifer Rising). It goes AU after that, although I have borrowed some of the plot elements and a little bit of dialog from the first part of Season Five, at least where I could. No spoilers for anything unaired.

Yay, I'm so glad you liked it!!! I'm kinda thinking it's going to take more than an epilogue to fix Sammy, and he's not likely to let me leave him there forever. Current plan is to get the sequel for An Issue of Consent done, and then I'll come back to this one, at least for time-stamps, but more than likely it'll be a sequel... or two, if snarkgoddess has her way!

I could not stop reading your story once I started! Wow this was amazing and incredibly hot. I loved the ending with what went down between Sam, Castiel, and Dean, that was wonderfully angsty.

I'm not sure why anyone would be mad at your ending but I loved the twist and I was on the edge of my seat.

I also felt like your writing style had grown in this story too. I loved your previous long story but this one felt tighter and the imagery was more evocative.

Between what I did to Castiel, and how dark it was, I was worried... but I frequently fret about silly things, lol. It's who I am - I'm probably never going to write fluff, but letting it all hang out there for people to see is a little nerve wracking...
