OMG, I wrote something short!!!! ::dances:: It's for my angst bingo card and it could be considered a tag for Descent into Shadow, but it doesn't have to be. It could use a quick beta before I post it. It's just over 1000 words and it's complete.

Also, I could really use a beta/cheerleader for The World Devours Me - which has been partially posted over at spn_kinkmeme. I expect this one to come in in the 30,000-40,000 range, and is currently 10,000. My muse is churning on this one, but there is no official deadline.

Finally, if anyone would be interesting in betaing/cheerleading A Matter of Trust - the third story in my consent verse, I would be forever grateful!!! My deadline for this one is the end of December, and I have not started it yet, although I have lots of ideas.

A/N: So not too long ago, my lovely friend rivestra wrote a short story that ate my brain. When I told her that if she wanted to avoid blood-shed, she needed to write me more, her only response was to tell me that if I wanted it so bad, I should write it myself. So I did.

This story parallels hers. It doesn’t actually matter which you read first, but I would suggest starting with hers, because it rocked!

Descent into Shadow:
( Praying for Dean to turn around, Sam increased his speed. Fear for Dean took him unwaveringly towards his brother’s side. He was too scared to make enough noise to alert his brother; any warning he might cry out would only pull Dean’s attention to Sam. If that happened, Dean’d be even less likely to notice the creature in time. )

Of course, Sam can't always control his powers, and he's still having flashbacks to the captivity and torture that started it all. Relieved and proud and fighting to heal the damage of the past months, Dean gets them out of the church and on the road. Hurt and reeling, they try to find their way back to each other, but are secrets and the remnants of miscommunication and betrayal really all they have to contend with?

AN: Starts immediately at the end of Season Four (Lucifer Rising). It goes AU after that, although I have borrowed some of the plot elements and a little bit of dialog from the first part of Season Five, at least where I could. No spoilers for anything unaired.
